MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Two persons were injured in an incident involving a flipped semi-truck that caused major traffic delays on Interstate 40 in northeast Memphis on Wednesday morning, according to police.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reported the incident shortly after 9:15 a.m. on eastbound I-40 near Whitten Road.
According to Memphis Police (MPD), three vehicles were involved in the incident, including an overturned semi-truck. According to authorities, a man suffered critical injuries, while a lady who was also injured was expected to recover. Both were rushed to Regional One Health.
All eastbound lanes of the freeway in the vicinity were closed, with traffic expected to be delayed for some time. TDOT cameras showed that emergency vehicles were partially obstructing the westbound lanes of I-40.

Memphis Police Department (MPD) issued a traffic notice for the crash, advising cars to avoid the area and take other routes.
