Three individuals were arrested today after an armed robbery targeting a USPS letter carrier near 158th Street and Halsted Street in Harvey, Illinois. The suspects stole packages and personal belongings before being swiftly apprehended by local authorities and federal inspectors.

The incident occurred around 9:55 a.m. when the letter carrier was delivering mail in the area. According to a statement released by Harvey spokesperson Glenn Harston II, a male suspect approached the carrier, brandished a firearm with a drum magazine, and demanded money. After searching the carrier’s pockets, the suspect entered the mail truck, taking two bins of packages and a backpack before fleeing.

Swift Police Response Leads to Arrests

Law enforcement, including the Harvey Police Department and U.S. Postal Inspectors, quickly coordinated efforts to track down the suspects. During their search, authorities heard gunfire nearby and followed the sounds to a residence on 620 E. 157th Place.

After securing consent to search the property, officers detained three individuals and recovered the stolen mail. Additionally, two firearms, including the one believed to have been used in the robbery, were seized during the operation.
