79-year-old Woman Killed in Route 11 Crash After Failing to Yield in Rockbridge County

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. – The Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a tragic two-vehicle accident that happened on Route 11 in Rockbridge County on Saturday.

On March 1, around 11:20 a.m., a collision happened near the intersection of Pine Forest Road.

A 2005 Toyota 4-Runner failed to give the right of way when turning onto Route 11 from a stop sign on Pine Forest Road. The Toyota was hit by a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 driving south on Route 11.

Patricia Ann Bane, 79, of Lexington, Virginia, was identified as the driver of the Toyota. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. Ms. Bane died at the site.

The Ram’s 40-year-old driver was sent to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. He wasn’t wearing his seatbelt.

There are no charges filed, and the crash is still under investigation.
