OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – A mother and her 41-year-old son were killed in an accident on Old Hickory Boulevard Monday night, according to officials.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) reported that the crash occurred at 8:30 p.m. on Old Hickory Boulevard near Anthony Street.
According to authorities, Corey Vondohlen, 41, was driving a 2014 Kia Optima north on Old Hickory Boulevard when he drifted off and collided with a utility pole.
Officials say Vondolen’s mother, 66-year-old Jill Edmondson of Nashville, died at the scene. Meanwhile, Vondohlen was transferred to Skyline Medical Center and later died.
Witnesses said that Vondohlen was “driving erratically” before the incident.
According to the MNPD, toxicology tests will be done to determine whether impairment contributed to the fatal crash.
