San Leandro, CA – Four suspects involved in a Fremont robbery were arrested Friday afternoon after a police chase on northbound Interstate 880 ended in a crash in San Leandro, authorities said.
Fremont Robbery Incident
Around 12:30 p.m. Friday, police reported that a person was robbed outside a bank on Mission Boulevard in Fremont. The victim provided a description of the suspects, helping law enforcement identify the vehicle used in the crime.
Police Chase and Vehicle Tracking
Officers used automatic license plate readers to locate the suspect vehicle. When authorities attempted to pull over the car, the driver fled, prompting a police pursuit north on Interstate 880.
Arrests in San Leandro
The chase continued into San Leandro, where the suspect vehicle eventually stopped. All four suspects attempted to flee on foot but were quickly taken into custody. Police recovered items belonging to the victim inside the vehicle.
Connection to Other Crimes
Further investigation revealed that the suspects were also involved in a similar robbery in a nearby city earlier Friday, authorities said.
Traffic Crashes During Pursuit
Police confirmed that the suspect vehicle was involved in three crashes during the pursuit: one on the highway and two on local streets in San Leandro. No injuries were reported.
