Overnight airstrikes between Russia and Ukraine left two people dead in each nation and numerous others injured on both sides, officials said.
The Russian military announced on Saturday that it had taken control of the villages of Maliivka in the Dnipro area and Zelenyi Hai in the eastern Donetsk region, which Moscow unlawfully annexed but only partially controls. Ukrainian officials did not immediately respond to the claim.

According to local officials, a combination rocket and drone strike occurred in the southern Dnipro region of Ukraine and the northeastern Sumy region. Serhii Lysak, the head of the regional administration in Dnipro, reported that the bombardment had killed at least two persons and injured five more.
The hit caused damage to a multi-story structure and company in the city of Dnipro, while a retail complex outside the city was destroyed by fire. According to the military government, three persons were hurt in Sumy. Russian drones destroyed the regional administrative building and struck a key area in Sumy on Saturday.
Overnight, Kharkiv was under heavy aircraft attack. Six persons were injured in Kharkiv, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Situations Service, including four rescuers who were struck in a double tap strike, in which emergency personnel are targeted in a follow-up attack while attempting to aid those injured in the first one.
The daily air force report states that Russia launched 27 missiles and 208 drones against Ukraine during the course of the night. It stated that preliminary data showed that 183 drones and 17 missiles were shot down or intercepted by air defense and electronic warfare, but that impacts from 10 missiles and 25 drones had been detected in nine different areas.

According to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, drones also targeted Moscow but were shot down, while Governor Oleg Melnichenko reported that an unidentified industrial location in the Penza region southeast of the capital was also targeted.
54 Ukrainian drones were shot down or intercepted by Russia’s air defenses, according to the country’s defense ministry.
