30-Year-Old Faces Felony Animal Cruelty Charges in Anaheim Poodle Case

Anaheim, CA — A 30-year-old Anaheim woman has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies after surveillance footage showed her tossing a malnourished poodle in a plastic bag over an eight-foot fence behind a veterinary clinic, officials announced Thursday.

Tyler Nashae Thompson, of Anaheim, faces:

  • One felony count of animal cruelty
  • One felony count of animal abuse by a caretaker
  • One misdemeanor count of concealing or destroying evidence

If convicted, Thompson could face up to three years in county jail, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office confirmed.

Details of the Incident

The incident occurred at approximately 1:37 a.m. on November 12. Thompson is accused of leaving her apartment on the 1700 block of Glenoaks Avenue and throwing a plastic grocery bag over the fence of a nearby veterinary clinic.

Surveillance video captured the bag hitting the ground, and the small white poodle emerged and wandered in the clinic’s yard as Thompson walked back toward her apartment complex.

At around 6:30 a.m., the clinic’s owner discovered the dog, who did not belong to the practice. After reviewing surveillance footage, the clinic contacted Anaheim Police Department, leading to an investigation.

Condition of the Dog

Prosecutors reported that the poodle was in critical conditionextremely malnourished, flea-infested, and missing a tooth. The dog was seized by OC Animal Care, where she is currently receiving medical treatment and care.

Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer commented on the case:

“This poor dog was subjected to unimaginable suffering by someone who was supposed to care for her. Only the truly depraved would make the decision to abuse an animal who has no way to protect itself and then throw it away like a piece of trash.”

Arrest and Legal Proceedings

Anaheim detectives used additional surveillance footage to identify Thompson, who was arrested on Wednesday and is being held at the Orange County Jail on $50,000 bail. She is scheduled to be arraigned Monday, December 1, 2025.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Michael Chay from the Consumer & Environmental Protection Unit, highlighting the office’s commitment to prosecuting animal cruelty cases.

Community Impact

The incident has sparked outrage in the Anaheim community, drawing attention to animal welfare and the responsibility of caretakers. Authorities urge residents to report any suspected abuse, emphasizing that early intervention can prevent further suffering and save lives.
