ARLINGTON, Texas – A 22-year-old man died in a violent crash Saturday when his car was hit by a suspected drunk driver, police said.
Arlington Police responded to a crash on I-20’s eastbound lanes near Bowen Drive around 7:39 p.m. Saturday, according to a press release. According to the announcement, officers discovered a totally engulfed automobile in flames.
Arlington firemen quenched the flames and discovered a deceased 22-year-old man inside the vehicle, according to police. According to the announcement, investigators discovered that the victim’s car was parked on the highway shoulder when a Ford F-150 truck struck the back of it. The car crashed, hit a concrete wall, and caught fire, according to the release.
Witnesses reported seeing three guys exit the pickup vehicle and flee the scene, according to police. Officers later captured all three guys and identified the driver as Cesar Ramirez Castro, 25, according to the announcement. Ramirez Castro was suspected of being intoxicated, and police conducted a series of field sobriety tests on him.
He was arrested and charged with one count of drunken manslaughter and one count of collision causing death, according to police.
Two passengers in the pickup, Marcelino Ramirez-Ramirez (30) and Daniel Castro Zammarron (24), were also arrested and charged with public intoxication.
The victim’s name was not immediately published.
