AMARILLO, Texas – The driver of an 18-wheeler had to be extricated after driving off I-40 and colliding with a structure.
The collision occurred around 1 a.m. near the intersection of eastbound I-40 and Paramount Boulevard.
According to authorities, the motorist crossed the south frontage road, slammed through two fences at Rustic Farm, passed through the Batteries+Bulbs sign, and crashed into the building.
A local business’s CCTV camera captured footage of the crash. The Amarillo Fire Department reports that firefighters spent 18 minutes cutting him out of the wreckage.
The motorist was transferred to Northwest Texas Hospital and listed in critical but stable condition.
