17-year-old boy dies in rollover crash day after Christmas, officials say

GRAY NEWS/WTOC/ELLABELL, GA Authorities in Georgia report that three other adolescent boys were hurt in an automobile accident that claimed the life of a teenager.

Four teenage males were trapped in a car that had flipped over when deputies arrived on the scene at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

After being transported to the hospital, 17-year-old Colby Minis passed away on Thursday from his wounds.

Two of those youngsters, according to officials, were airlifted to Savannah, where they are now fighting for their lives.

According to Minis’ aunt and caregiver, Nikki Sloan, he was a light. Right now, I would give anything to hear him laugh.

With his wide smile and loud laugh, Minis was a child who could light up any space, according to Sloan. He was also a teenager with aspirations of attending college and playing baseball at UGA.

I felt powerless, “Sloan said.”

His aunt claimed that they had always been close and that she was always his first choice. However, she never wanted to answer the phone when it came in on Monday.

“Please, talk to your kids and don’t let this 17-year-old’s death be for nothing,” Sloan urged.
