17 Suspected MS-13 Gang Members Arrested in Multi-State Operation, DEA Says

Nashville, TN – Federal officials have arrested 17 suspected members of the notorious MS-13 gang in a major operation led by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The arrests took place in Nashville, Tennessee, as well as in California and Oklahoma, marking a significant blow to the gang’s operations across the United States.

Dismantling the MS-13 Cell

The DEA announced on Tuesday that the arrests followed a nine-month investigation, which culminated in the dismantling of a major MS-13 cell. In addition to the arrests, law enforcement agents seized bulk quantities of drugs and firearms, including:

  • Marijuana
  • Counterfeit pills
  • Cocaine
  • THC vapes
  • Liquid psilocybin
  • Multiple firearms, including assault rifles

“These arrests represent a critical milestone in DEA’s mission to dismantle drug trafficking organizations operating in the United States and around the globe,” said DEA Administrator Terrance Cole. “MS-13 has left a trail of violence and devastation across communities nationwide.”

MS-13: A National Security Threat

MS-13, originally founded in Los Angeles in the 1980s, is now considered both a public safety and national security threat. The gang’s reach extends beyond the U.S., with active operations in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.

The actions taken today against MS-13 are the first of what will be many strikes against those who prey on the weak in our society,” said Jim Scott, Louisville Field Division special agent in charge. “The DEA and our law enforcement partners will not allow foreign terrorist organizations to operate in our communities. We will hunt you down and bring you to justice.”

Collaboration Between State and Federal Agencies

This joint operation involved a coordinated effort between state and federal agencies, underscoring the importance of multi-agency collaboration in tackling organized crime. The investigation is part of the DEA’s ongoing effort to take down major criminal organizations that are responsible for drug trafficking and violence across the U.S.

Ongoing Investigation and Future Strikes

Authorities have confirmed that the operation marks just the beginning of further efforts to dismantle MS-13 and other similar criminal groups. As the investigation continues, law enforcement officials remain vigilant in their pursuit of individuals associated with gang-related crimes.

The DEA is continuing its work alongside local and state law enforcement to identify additional individuals involved and to prevent further criminal activity.
