10 People Injured in Queens Nightclub Shooting on New Year’s Day

Queens, NY (latestsports) — Police are investigating a mass shooting that took place at a nightclub in Queens on New Year’s Day, leaving at least 10 people wounded. The incident occurred late Wednesday evening near the Amazura event hall in Jamaica, a popular venue in the area.

According to law enforcement sources, the gunfire broke out around 11:20 p.m. on January 1st. The event hall, located at 91-12 144th Place, was hosting a private party at the time of the shooting, which was reportedly organized in honor of a known gang member who had been killed last October. Interestingly, the victim’s birthday coincided with New Year’s Day.

Approximately 80 people had gathered outside the Amazura event hall, waiting to enter the venue when the shooting unfolded. Eyewitness accounts indicate that two to three suspects approached the crowd from the eastbound side of 144th Place and began firing indiscriminately. The gunfire sent people scrambling for cover, and at least three of the wounded individuals walked into a nearby hospital seeking medical attention.

The NYPD quickly responded to the scene, establishing a large crime scene around the area. Numerous police units were seen at the event hall, which is just a few blocks from the Jamaica Long Island Rail Road station. Investigators have not yet identified the suspects, and reports suggest that at least two individuals believed to be connected to the shooting remain at large.

The shooting marks the second violent incident at the Amazura event hall in recent months. Back in April 2024, two men were shot and injured at the same venue.

As of Thursday morning, the investigation is ongoing, with the NYPD promising to provide updates as they work to piece together what led to the shooting. Police are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.

The shooting has left the local community shaken, as many residents are still reeling from the chaos that erupted on what was supposed to be a celebratory night. Authorities are continuing their efforts to locate the suspects and ensure the safety of the public.
